What Factors Affect the Price of Real Estate Photography?
Why can the same apartment cost 900 shekels or 2,000? Eight factors that determine the price—and which ones are actually within your control.
There is no standard price list for real estate photography, which can be confusing. Two photographers might offer quotes that differ by a factor of two for the same property—and in most cases, both are right, because they’re pricing different scopes of work.
Property Size and Number of Rooms
This is the first and most predictable factor. A three-room apartment takes an hour; a house with a yard, a second floor, and a basement takes half a day.
Final number of photos
Not every photo taken is delivered. Editing a real estate photo involves merging exposures, straightening lines, correcting perspective, and balancing colors—that takes time, and it all adds up.
Trip
Taking a photo in my city and in a city an hour away are not the same thing, even if the apartment is the same.
Time of the Photo
Photographing at a time when the light is most flattering to the property costs more, because it limits the time of day. Photographing a facade after sunset requires arriving early, waiting, and a twenty-minute window to take the shot.
Video
A video isn't just a small addition to photography—it's a separate project, both on location and in post-production. A one-minute video can take longer to edit than all the still photos combined.
Drone
It adds time, equipment, and dependence on weather and regulations.
Scope of the Retouching
Removing a distracting object, retouching a stain, replacing a gray sky—each of these steps adds extra time to a single photo.
Urgency
Express delivery and standard delivery aren't the same price, because the former takes priority over other jobs.
What Is Really Within Your Control
Two of the eight. The first is scope: choose what’s truly necessary for the ad instead of including everything. The second is preparing the property—a tidy apartment is easier to photograph and requires less retouching, and that comes across in the listing.
